Studies show that a record number of Americans are single. The sad thing is most of those single folks don’t want to be that way. It’s just so hard to find the right one these days. One of the biggest problems singles face is the paradox of choice.
hanks to online dating we have so many choices, perhaps too many. We don’t want to pick one person because we’re too afraid of missing out on something better. In other words: the grass is always greener on the other side.

It’s Just Lunch Review
Its just lunch is a personalized matchmaking service that takes the role of something previously done by friends, matching you with someone. There’s something to be said about having someone else match you with the right person. We often see ourselves differently than others. We don’t always notice our facial expressions and voice inflections when we are speaking.
They claim to be an alternative to online dating, video dating, or other forms of dating. Their philosophy is that it is better to get to know someone in person rather than just endless chats with duds. They’ve been around for more than 7 years. It’s important to note that there are no profiles to browse through. You are reliant totally on them to match you with someone.
Unlike other matchmaking services, they have agreements with specific restaurants in your locality. The bill automatically comes split so there’s no awkward moment on who should pay for the date. They have a lengthy on-boarding process and don’t accept everyone as a client.
How Does it Work?
First, you have to do an intake consultation to see if you are eligible. After that, you have to go through an interview process and then are matched with compatible partners. It’s all personalized u
Unlike automated dating sites with them, you call and schedule a confidential interview with one of their matchmakers. This is to assess your personality, what your relationship goals truly are, and your past experiences. If you’re busy you can alsojust answer some questions online and they’ll give you a ring when it’s most convenient for you.
IJS is Truly Personalized
There are no online profiles. This is a good thing as it eliminates the paradox of choice that I discussed earlier. Plus, you don’t need to worry about anyone seeing you on a dating site! No more need to lie or try to become a professional writer just to appeal to people that you may not even like. They do the heavy-lifting for you.
Safety
One thing many users will like is the safety aspects. They don’t give your phone number or address to any of the matches. The dates are pre-arranged in a public place, usually a restaurant. That means if you’re not into your match there’s no worries at all.
Other Features
Another thing many of you guys will like is they offer a blog with a lot of good dating advice. The matchmakers will also work with you to overcome some challenges you may have faced in the past with dating. Personally, I feel this is the best feature of all. No computer can sit down and talk with you like a human can. Also, when looking for a suitable partner and not having much luck, sometimes we need to hear things that we may not like. Only a human can do this is in a helpful and caring way. As a blogger who gives dating advice online, I hate to say it but there simply is no better alternative to human-based coaching.
What I Didn’t Like
One thing I didn’t care for was the pressure to sign up. When I called them for information the woman kept trying to get my details even though I made it clear that I was just shopping right now. It was obvious that she was working on some sort of commission basis. The reason that’s problematic is because it incentivizes a person to not be as truthful as they otherwise would be. If their goal is to put the customer first they shouldn’t have their people work on commission.
In fact, I’m not alone in feeling this way. In 2014, the company got sued for compelling their employees to tell prospective clients that they had at least two potential matches for them already when that wasn’t really the case. The lack of suitible matches has been a complaint from some of the users. Given their price of over $1,300 for a year membership I would imagine their matching pool is quite limited.
Who Should Use IJL?
It’s probably not a good fit for someone who is very price conscious as it’s not cheap. If the price is a turn off for you then you should consider a less expensive automated matching service such as eharmony instead. Oh, and they currently do not offer services to people seeking
It’s Just Lunch is a good option for a working professional who is willing to make an investment in their happiness. It is also good for someone who is looking to have most of the hard work of meeting a match done for them. While it’s certainly not a guarantee, most of their users are quite happy with the service. The female users, especially, will really appreciate the safety precautions that they take. The male users will appreciate that both sides are required to invest ensuring that both sides have skin in the game. The best way for you to find out if this service is a good fit is to see for yourself.
